Trek status: The Beedahalli route is open. Trekking restarted on 18 October 2026. The Kukke Subrahmanya route has no opening date yet.

The Kumaraparvatha trek is open again from the Beedahalli side near Somwarpet. The route is Beedahalli–Kumaraparvatha–Beedahalli, a one-day trek that starts and ends at the Beedahalli checkpost.

This guide covers the 2026 rules, how to book, how to reach the checkpost and what to carry. At the end, we explain where you can rest before and after the trek.

Kumaraparvatha Trek Rules 2026

Before you leave

  • Booking confirmation for the Beedahalli route
  • The same government photo ID you booked with
  • Steel water bottle and steel food box
  • Trekking shoes with good grip
  • Cap, light rain jacket and a small first-aid kit
  • A bag to bring back your waste

How to Book the Kumaraparvatha Trek

Permits are sold online on the Aranya Vihaara website of the Karnataka Forest Department. Choose Kodagu >Kumaraparvatha Beedahalli route, add the details and pay online. The fee and the available slots are shown when you book.

Daily slots are limited, so book early for weekends and holidays. Carry your confirmation and ID on trek day. Your guide is arranged under the same system.

Trek Details and Planning

The Beedahalli circuit is about 14 km there and back. Most trekkers take 7 to 8 hours, so plan it as a full day. The climb is steep and tiring, through forest, rock and open grass, and it is shorter than the Kukke route.

Reach the Beedahalli checkpost early in the morning and walk at your own steady pace. Stay with your guide on the trail. If you are staying in Coorg for a few days, read our guide to Mallalli Falls for an easy day out after the trek.

Practical Tips Before You Trek

01

Book your slot early

Daily slots are limited, especially on weekends and holidays. Book on Aranya Vihaara before you travel.

02

Start early

An early start gives you cool weather, a relaxed pace and plenty of daylight to come down safely.

03

Wear shoes with grip

Rock and mud get slippery on the climb. Sandals and flat-sole shoes are not a good idea.

04

Carry steel, not plastic

Take water in a steel bottle and food in a steel box. There is no shop on the trail.

05

Leave sharp and flammable items

Knives, lighters and matchboxes are not allowed. Camping gear is not allowed either.

06

Bring back your waste

Carry a small bag and bring every wrapper and peel back with you. Keep the mountain clean.
